About

I am a third year student, currently enrolled as a Bachelor of Arts Student at the Thompson Rivers University.

My plan is to apply for the Bachelor of Social Work for next year and use this course as a stepping stone to my degree. After my degree my next step is to achieve a Masters in Counselling, specified on Indigenous people. My end goal in my journey is to become a licensed therapist, specializing in counselling Indigenous trauma victims and Residential School Survivors in every community that wants my services. I want to focus on these specific topics, because I have seen the hurt and suffering caused by residential school in the communities and how trauma affects victims of it.

This course interested me because I like learning new things I never knew about history and it creates more questions for myself as a mixed-blooded women in the twentieth century. I grew up on a reservation, close to the town of Williams Lake. I would like to educate others on the teachings of history and what happened when the settlers arrived.
